You Move What They Are Keeping. We Haul What They Are Leaving.
A hauling partner for Mid-Cities movers. This business has no moving service, so a referral is never a customer handed to a competitor — it is a problem you get to solve rather than stand next to.

The conversation nobody wants to have on loading day
It happens at roughly the same point on every job. The van is half loaded, the household is running on four hours of sleep, and somebody opens the garage door properly for the first time in three weeks. Behind the boxes there is a mattress, a broken recliner, a dryer that stopped working two winters ago and a stack of bagged clothing that never got sorted.
None of that was ever going on your truck. It is not what the estimate covered, it consumes space you are charging for by volume or weight, and at a weight-priced destination it is money the customer will resent having spent the moment it lands in a new garage.
But it is standing in front of you, and you are the person there. Which is how a hauling problem quietly becomes a moving company problem, on the one morning when nobody has any slack.
Complementary, not competitive
This branch does not move households. There is no packing service, no long-haul, no storage-in-transit and no version of a referral where we end up quoting your customer against you. Moving is simply not a thing this business does.
What that buys you is an unusual amount of safety in the arrangement. Handing a customer to a hauler is not the same as handing them to a competitor with an adjacent service line, and the referral does not need protecting with terms nobody wants to negotiate.
- No moving services offered — structurally no conflict
- The customer books the hauling directly with us
- You stay out of a pricing conversation you did not set
- One named contact rather than a general line

What comes off a move
Consistent enough across jobs that most movers recognise the whole list.
Furniture that is not making the trip
A sofa sized for the old living room, a dining set that will not fit the new one, bedroom furniture the customer decided against last week.
Mattresses and box springs
The single most common leftover on any move, and the item with the fewest disposal routes available to a household.
Appliances staying behind
Washers, dryers and refrigerators the new address already has. Refrigeration goes for certified refrigerant recovery rather than scrap.
Anything already damaged
Including pieces that did not survive a previous relocation and were never repaired.
The garage and the storage closet
Reliably the largest volume on the job, and reliably the space nobody opened until the week of the move.
Cardboard at the far end
A three-bedroom move produces more cartons than a residential recycling cart takes in a month.
How a referral actually runs
- 1
Flag it whenever you see it
At the survey is ideal, because it gives everyone room to plan. On the day works too — it is just tighter for scheduling.
- 2
Send the address and a rough scope
A message is enough. There is no partner portal to log into and no form for your estimator to complete.
- 3
We quote the household directly
They see a figure against their actual load before anything is scheduled, and they pay us rather than routing it through your invoice.
- 4
Timed around your crew
Ahead of your arrival or after your van pulls away. Two crews working one driveway slows both of them down.
The two windows worth knowing about
The first is before you survey. A household that clears its garage and its unwanted furniture first gets surveyed on what is actually moving, and on an interstate job priced by weight the saving is substantial and immediate. Customers attribute that saving to whoever suggested it.
The second is a week or two after the move, once the cartons have piled up and the two pieces that turned out not to fit have been identified. Almost nobody plans for that visit, and mentioning it in advance is the kind of detail that makes an estimator sound like they have run a few hundred of these.
- Pre-survey clearance, where the real saving sits
- Loading-day clearance for whatever is still standing
- Post-move cardboard and furniture that did not fit
- Apartment move-outs where the building sets the rules

Set up a moving partner account
Rates set once, a named contact, and same-day referrals wherever the calendar can hold them. Say roughly how many moves a month you run and it gets sized to that.
FAQ
Partnership questions
- Are you going to end up quoting our customers for moves?
- No, because this business has no moving service to quote with. That is the whole basis of the arrangement — there is nothing adjacent for a referral to leak into, so it does not need protecting with terms.
- How quickly can you take a referral?
- Frequently the same day for a contained load in Arlington or the nearer Mid-Cities. Loading-day referrals are the hardest to place, so anything you can flag at the survey stage has far better odds of getting the window you want.
- Who invoices the customer?
- We do, directly. Nothing passes through your books, you are not fronting a cost, and you are not defending a price you had no part in setting.
- Should we be on site at the same time?
- Usually not. One driveway and two crews means both of you working around each other, and on a tight moving day that costs more time than it saves. Either side of your window is smoother.
- What is on your non-allowable list?
- Broadly the same as yours — paint, solvents, fuel, propane, oils, pool chemicals and batteries. Those need a county household hazardous waste drop-off, and neither of us can carry them.
- Do you work apartment move-outs?
- Yes, and it is a large share of what this branch does. Walk-up carries, leasing-office coordination and fire-lane parking are ordinary here rather than exceptions, which matters on the Arlington and HEB jobs where most of your move-outs are.
